Jim Jeffries - Guitar (2011)

He is Comin' To Get You soon!

Kool Fellas, Ltd. Review in Ol´Skool Rodz #46 (USA)

Dirk Behlau is one of those rare photographers who is able to take photos of people you've never met and make them seem familiar, friends almost. His photographs of vehicles make you want to reach out and turn the key.

His new book, Kool Fellas. Ltd., continues that pattern. It’s safe to say that Dirk is one of the top two or three kustom kulture photographers in Europe. He understands the subjects – hot rods, custom cars, stripped down motorcycles, pinup and burlesque girls - and the men and women who live the lifestyle every day. That is obvious from his photography.

It is gritty and raw, like his subjects, never polished or pretentious. He’s not a photographer trying to figure something out. He has it figured out because this is his life, too. Dirk just relays what he sees from the inside. This book could be sub-titled “A Day in the Life of Dirk.”

Shot in the USA as well as in Europe, Kool Fellas, Ltd. is a feast for the eyes, a great coffee table book for the casual observer or a pictorial textbook for the student of kustom kulture. Simply, slowly studying the photos will tell you much about this kulture. Except for the noise and the smell of oil and gasoline, it’s all there in the book.

Eva Schatz: Tattoo Artist Interview for Inkarnation

Artist Feature with Eva Schatz for the upcoming design book Inkarnation: Tattoo & Lifestyle, Filmed & produced by Pixeleye Interactive, http://www.pixeleye.de for Zeixs Publishing, http://www.zeixs.com

"I’m tattooing since March 2007 at Leo’s Naked Trust Tattoo Crew in the wonderful City Centre of Salzburg in Austria, Europe. Before I started tattooing I was into a school for Fashion Design an after this I studied Graphic- & Communication-Design. So I was an art-freak since ever,… or ever and ever. I always had a fable for body-art and the fantastic tattoo-artists around the world, especially Leo, but I always was too shy to ask for an apprenticeship, even though it was my heart-desire! So I worked up all the courage to ask Leo for a change, and he gave me the very best thing in my life…. he gave me his passion for tattooing and all (I hope anytime nearly all) the knowledge of the handling of a tattoo machine, and, and, and…I´m soo thankful to him, that he gave me the chance of my life!!!
And this is my previous way of life – and I´m just in the beginning, but I´m tattoing with all my passion, particularity, lot of love, femaleness, with my hands, ink, needles, a little bit of luck and hopefully brain. Every Tattoo is a custom made, unique Tattoo and I´m trying to put all my energy and my creativity in every special sketch! Yours Eva" http.//www.evaschatz.com
