Growing up in the Mission district of San Francisco, Che Rivera (Benjamin Bratt) has always had to be tough to survive. Hes a powerful man respected throughout the Mission barrio for his masculinity and his strength, as well as for his hobby building beautiful lowrider cars. At the same time hes also a man feared for his street-tough ways and violent temper.
A reformed inmate and recovering alcoholic, Che has worked hard to redeem his life and do right by his pride and joy: his only son, Jes, whom he has raised on his own after the death of his wife. Ches path to redemption is tested, however, when he discovers Jes is gay. In a rage, Che violently beats Jes, disowning him. He loses his son and loses himself in the process. Isolated and alone, Che comes to realize that his patriarchal pride is meaningless to him, and to maintain his idea of masculinity, hes sacrificed the one thing that he cherishes most the love of his son.
To survive his neighborhood, Che has always lived with his fists. To survive as a complete man, hell have to embrace a side of himself hes never shown.

'If someone in the 1960's had imagined ('Space: 1999' style) what rock and roll would sound like in 2009, Bo Ningen is what they would have heard in their head.
The four Japanese Londoners are East Electric Psychedelic (the name gives some idea of what they're about) at The Cross Kings and it's the best gig I've seen all year. What with the profoundly cool, effortless onstage wig-outs and head-bending james, they are pretty much the consummate psyche band, while at the same time playing an updated J-Rock template that has elements of kraut-rock, metal, hardcore and funk scratched all over it. That might sound messy on paper but live the disorder is wrought into tight riffs that explode into transcendent a-tonal onslaughts without notice. In its obbession with repetition and the twisted patterns of its ungraspable musical narrative, the set has all the appeal of listening to Amon Duul, Can, Melt-Banana or one of the weirder nights at the Dalston Vortex, but they're the only band around that could capably straddle the words of a dazed double-spread and an ATP stage. It's a hundred times better than what's on their myspace page' -Loud & Quiet

In a triumphant return to a classic Mexican folk genre, SA Studios commissioned LA based rapper and hip hop producer Rome to inject some character into the Machete soundtrack through the addition of a timeless Corridos ballad. Recounting the brave or tragic tales of celebrated men and women, Corridos was a prominent means of storytelling and narrating true events before the advent of mass media in Mexico. Passing under the radar of sometimes politically biased media, Corridos was news and stories for the people, by the people. Trejo’s Machete was a Corridos song waiting to be sung, and Rome’s selection adds flavor and history to the hero’s fearless quest for revenge.
