Sam Borkson and Tury Sandoval from FriendsWithYou ARE on a mission to spread their magic, luck and friendship. During this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach, they filled the skies with 18 colossal art dirigibles in their hometown for the SKYWALKERS blimp parade spreading their zeal!
When Sam and Tury have an idea, they are determined to make it happen. SKYWALKERS was conceived by FWY earlier on in the year and with their luck and friendships, they were able to realize their dream parade.
The promenade along the white sands of Miami Beach kicked off with the some powerful beats. Leading the way was Hialeah High’s Marching Band with sounds co-written by Tury’s father, the celebrated jazz musician Arturo Sandoval followed by balloons designed by FWY themselves, David Choe, Devil Robots, Misaki Kawai, MumbleBoy, Paper Rad and Ara Peterson manned by some 150 volunteers.
Equipped with our sunglasses and plenty of sunscreen, dgv hauled to the beach to check out the parade and meet FWY. They tell us about their painstaking planning and experiences in making their vision come true.
Their first monograph, FriendsWithYou Have Powers!, released this fall by dgv is now available worldwide.
