bear flavoured
The book Bearflavoured brings together art, design and Bears. Bears, or stocky and hairy gay men, have been making steps from marginal culture into the gay mainstream. The scene has exploded in the past decade and has inspired many designers and artists alike.

In this 256 page book, the first publication of its kind, over 30 individuals are featured from different disciplines including illustration, photography, fashion and fine art. The contributors come from a wide variety of geographical regions – places as diverse as Western Australia, Finland, Italy and Siberia. Most of the book is a celebration of the hirsute, stocky male ideal, but some of the connections are less obvious and left for the viewer to discover.

Work has been contributed by Walter Van Beirendonck, Costello
Tagliapietra, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Franko B and Nayland Blake to name but a few. Some of the work was made specifically for Bearflavoured and some was taken from the artists’ existing catalogues.
