Ich werde am Mittwoch vor Ort (Underground/Köln) sein und die Bands backstage und onstage fotografieren.

In just four weeks the 2nd Pictoplasma Animation Festival, the little sibling of our biennial conference, opens its doors. It's the perfect time for an update on what to expect.

All of you arriving in Berlin the evening before the official event kicks off are invited to join us at the pre-festival exhibition and party. We couldn't resist and decided to abuse the impressive dome hall of a former royal post office for the presentation our latest jewel, The Character Ride ( http://www.pictoplasma.com/ride ). Hop on and try to tame the beast, or simply watch others as they fail to master this bucking character bronco. Additionally, former Geisha-gone-singer Hanayo gives us the honor of attempting the impossible: She's agreed to perform her live karaoke act while in full gallop. After that, DJ Martin Hossbach will keep you up dancing until the break of dawn. So please join us for a ride, a drink, music and dance at the Rodeo Club / Postfuhramt, Auguststraße 5a (back entrance), 10117 Berlin.

The Festival opens on Friday at noon at the Kino Babylon, Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, and will keep you busy until Sunday afternoon. That makes two and a half days of big screen eye-candy, including work by Not to scale, pictureDRIFT, Super Umami, Motomichi Nakamura, Aardman, Dinamo Digital, Window productions, 72 and sunny, Bupla, Three Legged Legs, Dirty UK, Draw Pictures, The Directors Bureau, Nexus Productions, Buck, Model Robot, Hornet Inc, Bent, Studio Aka, Santa Maria, Gangpol & Mit, Mixtape Club, Punga and oh so many more.

Besides the previously announced lectures, performances and artist Presentations, we can officially confirm the appearance of Tokyoplastic aka Samuel Lanyon Jones, who will take us on a journey through the project's history, from their ground braking drum machine to today's work for Microsoft, Toyota and Dreamworks.

Saturday night's party promises even more extraordinary audio-visual treats: Charles Bowles hits the stage with the first ever music to be composed and performed entirely by a living crow, followed by Vulvinia et Jambonstar and their electro- noisy- thrashy- romantic- religious- pee- &- poo- disco- traditional- creamy- smurf- vs- minuet live set. All-night DJ battles will be accompanied by the ridiculous first pole-dancing attempts of last year's PictoOrphans and allow you to shake off your visual overfeed.

Everyone still capable of more input on Sunday morning can continue the animation marathon in a special cinema matinee, followed by some cake and coffee back at the Rodeo Club, which is also your last chance to end the festival in dignity by giving the character ride a final swing.

If any of the above has caught your attention, be warned: the cinema only offers a limited amount of seats, so booking the festival online and soon is the only guarantee for admission.

Jaybo aka Monk – Künstler, Herausgeber und Artdirektor des Style 100 Magazins und kreativer Kopf und Mitbegründer des Streetwear-Labels Irie Daily – nimmt mit ca. einem Dutzend anderer Künstlern an der Veranstaltung “Paint my House” während des Festival of Lights in Berlin teil. Am Mittwoch, den 24. Oktober wird Jaybo aka Monk eines seiner Werke als 96 Meter große Projektion am Internationalen Handelszentrum (IHZ) in der Friedrichstrasse zeigen.

Ein Eindruck vorweg von dieser aufwendigen und eindrucksvollen Aktion vermittelt das Bildmaterial anbei. Jaybo aka Monks Werke könne ebenso momentan in der Circleculture Gallery in der Gipsstraße 11 in Berlin Mitte besichtigt werden. Seine Ausstellung “Old sars and new injuries are the beauty of the eternal now” läuft noch bis zum 16. Angekündigt hatten die Chromjuwelen es bereits. Das PokerRoom.com jetzt als Hauptgewinn im Rahmen der ''Miami Styles'' einen Ferrari Mondial ausgeschrieben hat.



Das finale Turnier findet am 10. November im ''Weltschmerz'' (Zoe 3), Neuer Pferdemarkt 19, 20359 Hamburg, statt. Start der Vorausscheidung wird nachmittags (16.00 Uhr; Qualifikationsrunde 30 Teilnehmer) sein. Gegen 21.00 Uhr beginnt das Finale.
Einlass ab 15.00 Uhr, bzw. dann wieder ab 20 Uhr sein. Ab 20.00 Uhr kann außerdem an den ''Public-Tables'' gepokert werden. Und wer schon die letzten Turniere besucht hat, der weiß, dass es nicht nur an den Tischen rund geht. Also...gleich in den Kalender eintragen!

- featuring paintings, screen prints and illustrations from skateboard and graphic artist Todd Bratrud. Its the first solo show of Todd Bratrud in Europe - many of you may have seen Todd Bratruds work through the years on skateboard decks and shirts.



He did several collaborations with Nike SB, Flip Skateboards, Volcom, Consolidated, The Skateboard Mag, Burlesque Design of North America, and his own projects with Teenage Runanway and Tickled Pink Magazine. You will see the true nature of skateboarding and art. Rough and bloody! So puke blood and get tears in your eyes. Bratruds work is a nice reminder of the silliness in life.

Heute Mittag war ich mit den Jungs, die den Hell Nights Kino Event nächste Woche veranstalten im Kölner Autokino, um die Lokation zu checken und für nächsten Samstag einiges zu besprechen.

Ich werde nächste Woche Samstag diverse Mädels mit US-Cars fotografieren. Leute, die mit eigenem US-Car kommen haben freinen Eintritt (sprich: Fahrer mit Auto). Anmeldung vorher erforderlich, Infos dazu unten. Übrigens: Laut Vorhersage bleibt es Abends trocken! :)
