“The four pillars - free time, felt slippers, beer, and television - never enter the picture for me,” says stunt driver Pit Lengner. Pit is close to 60, but has as good an engine as any, which has earned him in turn the name “Kamikaze Pit”. Young as long as I run - “Young Until I Die”.

Oliver Wagner and Dirk “The Pixeleye” Behlau have frequently worked together for various music- and scene-magazines, and have now joined forces to put together their first book. “Young Until I Die” presents striking biographies alongside gripping photos. It tells the story of people who could not be more different from one another: from Rock 'n' Rollers to professional skaters, from stuntmen to pimps, from hooligans to candidates for the Nobel peace prize. And yet they all have one thing in common: They're over 50 and push through their lifestyles without batting an eye.

It's a book about dynamic characters - crazy old dogs - although they probably wouldn't see themselves that way. And because of their age, most of them only remain to stand somewhere on a useless piece of paper. You may not like each of them at first glance. But their unwillingness to compromise for anyone should earn them respect. As Oscar Wilde had so well put it: “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.”

Pit ist nahe an der 60, mit so gut wie allem was einen Motor hat auf Du und Du und macht seinem Namen „Kamikaze Pit“ immer noch alle Ehre. Jung sein bis es gelaufen ist – Young Until I Die.

Schon öfter haben Oliver Wagner und Dirk „The Pixeleye“ Behlau für verschiedene Musik- und Szenemagazine zusammen gearbeitet – jetzt erscheint ihr erstes gemeinsames Buch. "Young Until I Die" zeigt eindringliche Biografien und ausdrucksstarke Fotos. Sie erzählen von Menschen, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten: von Rock ’n’ Rollern und Profi-Skatern, von Stuntmen und Zuhältern, von Hooligans und Kandidaten für den Friedensnobelpreis. Sie alle haben Eins gemeinsam: Sie sind jenseits der 50 und ziehen ihren Lifestyle immer noch ohne mit der Wimper zu zucken durch.

Es ist ein Buch über Charakterköpfe, verrückte alte Hunde, aber wahrscheinlich sehen sie das selbst nicht so. Denn dass sie alt sein sollen steht für die meisten von ihnen nur irgendwo auf einem unnützen Stück Papier. Vielleicht kann man nicht jeden von ihnen auf Anhieb mögen. Aber ihre Kompromisslosigkeit verlangt einem einfach Respekt ab. Denn wie hat Oscar Wilde schon so gut erkannt? „Leben, das ist das Allerseltenste in der Welt - die meisten Menschen existieren nur.“
