"Jetzt ist es dingfest. Unsere Flüge nach Las Vegas sind gebucht, und wir können vor Vorfreude kaum noch schlafen. Unser Ziel: die General Tire Mint 400. Eben das legendäre Rennen, zu dem schon Hunter S. Thompson seinen Protagonisten Raoul Duke, begleitet von seinem Anwalt "Dr. Gonzo", geschickt hat. Die Mint 400 wird von General Tire präsentiert und läuft unter den Fittichen der SNORE (Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts). Für General Tire startet B.J. "Ballistic" Baldwin, der uns 2009 in der Lausitz in die Baja-Geheimnis einweihte.
Allerdings wollen wir - im Gegensatz zu den Helden aus "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" - das Rennen voll erleben. Wir wollen mitten rein. Insofern verzichten wir auch auf die von Hunter S. Thomson sorgfältig aufgelisteten Reisebegleiter ("Wir hatten zwei Beutel Gras, fünfundsiebzig Kügelchen Meskalin, fünf Löschblattbögen extrastarkes Acid, einen Salzstreuer halbvoll mit Kokain und ein ganzes Spektrum vielfarbiger Upper, Downer, Heuler, Lacher …") und packen stattdessen Film- und Fotokameras, Note- bzw. Netbooks sowie Mobiltelefone ein. Eben alles Utensilien, die uns dabei helfen, dass nicht nur wir unseren Trip erleben, sondern auch andere daran teilhaben lassen. Zumindest in Form von Reportagen, Filmen und Live-Feeds.
Da wir aber ja nicht wirklich was können, außer auf den unterschiedlichsten Kanälen im Internet für eine Menge "Buzz" zu sorgen, haben wir uns direkt professionelle Unterstützung ins Boot geholt. Die filmische Dokumentation wird von AUTO BILD TV übernommen, unser fotografisches Auge wird Dirk "Pixeleye" Behlau sein. Somit hoffen wir, dass wir wenigsten ein bisschen der Ehre gerecht werden, dass uns General Tire zu diesem sensationellen Wüstenabenteuer mitnimmt.
Und wenn wir schon Ende März nach Las Vegas fliegen, dann bleiben wir natürlich auch so lange, dass wir auch das Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend besuchen können. Kurzum, wir werden zwischen dem 25. März und dem 2. April in Las Vegas anzutreffen sein. Wer ist denn noch vor Ort?
Gespannt sind wir jetzt schon, wie unsere Köpfe wohl diese Reizüberflutung verarbeiten werden: Las Vegas - Mint 400 - Offroad - Trophy Trucks - Hot Rods - Burlesque - Car Show ..."

Meet Nick Sambrato. He runs a print shop in Orlando, Florida called Mama's Sauce.
Nick isn't a very smart guy. At a time in history when the print industry is pouncing from one space-age technological advancement to the next, Nick has decided to take a giant leap backwards into the industrial revolution.
Meet the Kluge letterpress. An 2,000 pound, cast iron, electric powered monstrosity of vacillating rods, giant spinning wheels and pneumatic hoses. The Kluge is Nick's weapon of choice in his battle against the future.
So why does Nick use the Kluge? A clearly outdated, cumbersome and obsolete machine? The same reason any craftsman uses any tool: for the quality of the finished product. A letterpress offers a tangible, three-dimensional look and feel to the printed image that no other technology can replicate.
Let Nick take you on a trip back in time as he runs through the process of turning an ordinary piece of paper stock into work of art.

Mit Girls And Corpses bringt raptor publishing eines der ungewöhnlichsten und aufsehenerregendsten amerikanischen Magazin-Konzepte nach Deutschland! Im Heft geht es – wie der Titel bereits sagt – um heiße Girls und deren aufregende Photo-Shoots mit … Leichen! Allerdings dürfen Kirchenvertreter, Staatsanwälte und Menschenrechtler aufatmen, denn natürlich waren hier keine echten Leichen im Spiel, sondern lediglich Nachbildungen eines Maskenbildners aus Hollywood.
Dennoch dürfte klar sein, dass Girls And Corpses kein Magazin für den sonntäglichen Kirchengänger ist, sondern vielmehr eine Zeitschrift für die Freunde der Satire, des Makaberen und des Surrealen. Neben den aufwändigen Photo-Shoots (schon mal eine Leiche und zwei heiße Bikini-Babes auf einem Trampolin gesehen?) bietet das Magazin allerlei Reportagen und satirische Berichte, die keinerlei Tabus kennen.
In den USA wurde Girls And Corpses für sein originelles Konzept bereits mit mehreren Auszeichnungen bedacht und selbst Al Feldstein, der Begründer des MAD-Magazins und Ozzy Osbourne, der Prince of Darkness, haben dem Heft bereits ihren Segen gegeben.
Für die deutsche Ausgabe hat es sich der bekannte Kriminal-Biologe Mark Benecke nicht nehmen lassen, das Vorwort zu verfassen.
Girls And Corpses ist ohne Zweifel das schrägste, ungewöhnlichste und provokanteste Magazin, das die deutsche Zeitschriftenlandschaft je gesehen hat! Halleluja!
