The German ZDF/3sat network takes a look at a day in the life of Richard R. Nagy aka "Datamancer" of www.datamancer.net, a popular steampunk builder in California, USA.
The Clacker PC will be 'officially' unveiled on Datamancer.net hopefully in the next month or two.
The props on the table in the intro are from www.clockworker.de, a German steampunk blog.

Shot by my grandfather on his Bell & Howell Filmo using 16mm Kodachrome film stock. This footage was taken a year after the California theme park opened.
It was quite a surprise going through this and seeing my grandmother meeting Walt Disney himself! I've been doing my best to find out what they were shooting at the front of the park. So far I've been unsuccessful.
Transferred to HD (1080PsF 23.98) myself off a Spirit and Color Corrected using a da Vinci 2k Plus. Slowed to 18fps to match the original film speed.
The previous film had such a positive response that I felt compelled to post the rest.
In these short clips you see more of an interaction between my grandparents. As someone who never really knew his grandfather; these reels of film have really let me feel related to him and the rest of my family, too.
Thank you to all the positive comments and support!
More surprises. A reel labeled "Alameda 1958" happened to feature quite a few urban scenes set in San Francisco. This footage features only my grandfather; both behind and in front of the camera. Preceding this piece of film was a document of his travel there; aboard a Navy Aircraft. That will be posted soon.

Introducing the first user-generated HD Video Contest where photographers become filmmakers, and we all see beyond the still. To kick off the contest, Canon asked me to interpret what story I saw beyond the still, and to tell that story with the new Canon EOS 7D. My short film will be the first chapter of seven, each ending with a still photograph for the next aspiring filmmaker to interpret. Posing the question to everyone, what do you see beyond the still?
My short film will premiere on January 7th on Vimeo, and the contest will begin January 15th. I look forward to seeing what everyone creates! More info coming soon!
This video was Directed, Shot and Edited by Blake Whitman. Additional cameras by Brian King and Sean O'Brien.
